Rainwater Harvesting – Stroud District Council - Rainwater Harvesting
About The Project
Stroud District Council were planning the refurbishment of local public toilet facilities and considered the benefits and cost savings associated with a rainwater harvesting system. Stroud contacted members through the UK Rainwater Harvesting Association and UK Alternative Energy were selected to reduce Stroud District Council’s future water consumption at these public facilities.
UK Alternative Energy conducted a survey and the proposal was agreed for the installation of a 2,400 litre above ground rainwater collection system, specifically designed to service the needs of the public convenience, saving the cost of 48,000 litres of mains water per annum. The new system has continued to be monitored and the new rainwater storage system has resulted in substantial savings on water bills and associated sewerage charges.
